ASOCIACIÓN COMUNIDAD KLAKIBUM (English)

Asociación Comunidad Klakibum is a sociocultural organisation that works on the development of musical learning with social impact.

Its main activity is the formation of samba reggae "blocos" (informal street percussion groups of a music genre from Bahia, Brazil) but we also teach Malinke Percussion from Guinea and Dulzaina (traditional and applied to modern music). Our main sponsors are so far the Caja Mediterráneo's Obras Sociales and Alicante City Council.

Our work stems from the Common Cultural Development through music. All of our activities are open to all until we reach maximum capacity and they are all free of charge. Classes and rehearsals take place in Northern Alicante (Social Centres, Culture Classrooms and Parks)

Participants are mainly teenagers and young people (from 12), but we also have groups for adults. Currently there are around 73 people registered, all from different nationalities. This makes spaces for intercultural encounters and coexistence.

We are currently stepping into the European scene by forming networks and by sharing associative work and our passion for music. A type of Brazilian music called bloco (batucada) is experiencing huge growth in Europe, so it would be great if we were to create some networks that allow us to exchange our experiences, grow while understanding international movement and launch projects together with youth participation, music and intercultural relations.
